Hard Rock Hotel Slated to Open in Panama’s Pacific Coast!

•June 24, 2008 • Leave a Comment

For Immediate Release

HARD ROCK HOTEL PANAMA RECEIVES PANAMA APPROVAL TO BEGIN SALES
Project is the first major international brand to locate on the Pacific Ocean

Panama City, Panama Monday, June 19, 2008 – The Hard Rock Hotel Panama, a 499-room luxury condo hotel resort development on the Pacific Ocean has won approval to start condo sales from the Panama Government and Housing Authority.  The destination resort will incorporate iconic contemporary architecture, cutting edge amenities including swim-up rooms, a Rock Spa, and a range of other innovations designed to create a new standard, not only for Panama but for the entire Caribbean/Central American region and the rest of the world.

With the extreme shortages in hotel accommodations in Panama, timing could not be better for the   government approval for the project, which will bring significant investment and employment to the Pacific beach area.

“I am very fond of Panama and its people, and proud to be involved in bringing the Hard Rock Hotel Resort to the beach in Panama,” says developer Bryan, “I know that this will be both a perfect place for this wonderful resort, and a great resource for the people who live in this area.”

When completed in 2010, the hotel will be join nine Hard Rock Hotels currently operating worldwide and a number of others planned to open at roughly the same time. The hotels translate the idealistic brand elements of the much more informal Hard Rock Café’s (“Love All, Serve All”) into a four-star travel experience. Hard Rock Hotels are consistently ranked at the top of the markets they serve in occupancy and average daily rate. (The company’s reputation and performance was a key reason a previous condo hotel offering in San Diego sold out its available units within hours.)

The eco-sensitive design of the hotel will incorporate Panamanian culture from Spanish colonial to Kuna motifs within a very up to date, expansive context. Most of the units within the project will have ocean views, the exception being a small, exclusive section centered on the state-or-the-art Rock Spa ®. Planned attractions include a 200,000 square foot pool, 2 signature restaurants, expansive Rock Star suites, a sky bar, and the Hard Rock’s world famous service.

Panama Real Estate market continues to Boom

•April 12, 2008 • Leave a Comment

It seems like there is no slowing down Panama’s Real Estate market boom, flights continue to be full, hotel rooms are fully booked and there are buyers everywhere.  Since the US market slowdown demand for Panama Real Estate continues to grow and it hasn’t slowed down, more americans are seeking a place to park their investments and it seems like everyone wants to get away from the ever so astronomical US taxes.

Europeans continue to come down to Panama and now more so that the euro continues to grow, they are not only investing but are coming to Panama to set up businesses and calling Panama their home.  With the popularity of Latin America many businessmen are considering making Panama their main hub, due to its strategic geographical location to the rest of Latin America.  We have seen europeans set up boutique hotels, mortgage companies, and just plainly capitalizing on Panama’s many incentives and growing tourism.

Proyects continue to flourish in Panama along with the Panama Canal expansion, the Balboa Avenue Cinta Costera, London & Regionals multi media complex in Howard Airforce Base, there are plans to construct an Oil Refinery in the Puerto Armuelles area that will employ over 10,000 people, among many other proyects.

Yes Panama City’s skyline is a reminder of Miami but considering that in panama many buildings feature 1 or 2 apartments per floor (a luxury in the US Market) there are many apartments being built but quite a healthy demand for them.  With so many foreigners wanting to move to Panama and set up shop demand for Panama Real Estate is quite good.

For those who have invested in Panama already the outlook looks good and for those who are considering visiting or investing in Panama now is the time.  For Panama Real Estate visit http://selectpanamarealestate.com and for Panama Land for Sale visit http://panama-experts.com both very good sources for property in Panama.

The Republic of Panama – Most Dynamic Country in the World

•February 19, 2008 • Leave a Comment

Aurthor: Rudy A. Estripeaut

Article Source: Select Panama

A big statement indeed but I would bet on it to be true!  I have traveled to many countries around the world from the Himalayas to South America and Europe to the South Pacific, and Panama is one of the most dynamic countries in the World.  I mean where else in the world can you have breakfast in the Pacific, Lunch in the Atlantic and sip coffee for sunset in a volcano 5000 feet above seal level all in the same day.  And that is possible without really exerting yourself.  In panama you can be strolling the streets of the historical Casco Viejo, then take a ferry to Taboga Island for the day, come back to the city in the afternoon, be at a 5 star restaurant in the evening and then try your luck at one of many Casinos afterwards.  This is a typical day for people visiting panama.

I recently had a guest from San Francisco who spent 2 weeks in panama vacationing.  Afterwards it dawned on me that they had just been to 4 different islands (Taboga, Contadora, San Jose & Bocas del Toro), 3 different mountain ranges (El Valle, Boquete & Volcan), 2 oceans (Atlantic & Pacific), several yachts, boats, horses, atv’s, motorcycles and a few commuter planes, all within a short distance and without stressing out.  And yet, they still left without visiting The San Blas Islands, Isla Grande, Portobello, El Darien, the Embera Indians, Pedasi, Las Tablas and the list goes on.  So what am I saying?  Panama – like its name, which means “abundance of fish”, has an abundance of natural beautiful places to visit and indulge in; all in a friendly and inexpensive atmosphere.

For anyone thinking of Panama as a travel destination, a new home, a second home, a place to retire or a place to invest do business and make money, Panama has an abundance of opportunity for everyone.  Panama’s government has created many incentives for foreigners to conduct business, obtain business and become residents.  That is why many Canadians are coming to Panama, people from all over the US and Europe have finally found Paradise.

There are many resorts that are being built just to accommodate all the foreigners that are coming to live or invest in Panama.  Just 30 minutes from Panama is Punta Chame a white sandy beach peninsula that is a haven for windsurfers and kite surfers is now going to become an area dotted with housing projects, hotels and Casinos.  Not far from there is a popular Panamanian weekend retreat, Coronado Beach, which has an 18 hole golf course and all the modern amenities.  Then there is Vista Mar located in San Carlos which has a 5 star restaurant, villas, 18 hole golf course all in a gated community.

Just 20 minutes from there will be the most talked about project in Panama – The Bijao Beach Resort, located in a pristine beach area, this resort will have villas and a stunning building called Chichibali.  Other projects popping up in the area are Buenaventura and Playa Blanca Beach Resort, amongs others.

Other popular residential areas being built include Midpoint Panama in Penonome, which is quickly becoming a very popular resort area, this resort will also have a golf course and be located in a nice and safe community.  There is also La Pintada Estates in La Pintada, with its spectacular mountain views also very close to Penonome.  And a recent addition is the Panama Waterfalls project, a nice rural development located at the entrance to El Valle.

These and many other projects to come will make living in Panama a much more attractive destination and a playground for people of all ages from all walks of life.  Panama is not just a journey it’s a Destination!

Panama Islands: Investment Opportunity

•February 13, 2008 • Leave a Comment

In a recent article posted on the Select Panama Real Estate Site, Rudy Estripeaut discusses the investment opportunities in Panama. Panama has been rated as the best retirement spot in the world and is currently experiencing an unprecedented Real Estate Boom. To find out more read the full article below or visit the article source at Island Investment Opportunity.

Panama Islands: Investment Opportunity

Panama offers some incredible investment opportunities for the developer wanting a large piece of land to construct a resort or for the individual just looking for a piece of paradise to construct a little shangri la. With an abundance of natural beauty, panama is as diverse as its people and birds, with two oceans, miles of beaches, cool fresh highlands, panama has always been the “puente del mundo, corazon del universo”, meaning “bridge of the world, heart of the Universe”. That has always been the case, only that in the eyes of many foreigners, Panama was a stopping point to drug lords, and home to dictators, and yes that was the case in the 70’s and 80’s but they are far gone and now Panama enjoys a stable economy, dollar based, modern day luxuries, and it is a country of very friendly people.

International living has continuously rated Panama as the best retirement spot in the world and rightly so, when foreigners come here they experience the Panamanian warmth of its people and its culture, with so many fun loving people and so many places to see and visit. Just 20 minutes by ferry there is Taboga Island, the Island of Flowers, a small quaint fishing village with no cars, no hassles, no stress, the quaint little town has few boutique hotels, and a few nice beaches but it is just walking around it that you capture the essence if this idyllic little town, with its aromas of gardenias, and locals cooking guandu, and the fresh salt water, you feel like you are in some small island in Italy or Greece.

From there you can fly or go by boat to the famous Pearl Islands, where survivor has filmed their episode many times over since its many pristine islands allow for world class settings. These islands are one of the most beautiful islands in the world, with Isla del Rey, Contadora, Saboga, Bollarena, Bartolome, Casaya, Punta Cocos, and Viveros Island Pearl Island. With white-sand beaches, lush palm-tree forests, five-start restaurants and a Jack Nicklaus Signature Golf Course, this dreamland offers everything your heart desires…and then some – including boutique shops, a fully service marina and even a private airstrip. From watching the sun set over the Pacific in a swaying hammock to chartering a luxury craft through the wondrous Pearls, the rewards that come with seizing this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity are endless. What’s more: Residents can choose from five distinct home models. So where you can crave the artistic look of Mexico, the elegance of Italy, or even the modernity of Miami, your architectural wish is met. And with all lots overlooking the water, the views are as spectacular as the designs.

Panama’s Best of 2007

An article published on Panama’s Investors Blog goes over the best changes that occurred in Panama in 2007. It touches on everything from the Canal to real estate prices to pollution.

Panama’s best of 2007

I have wanted to write a story like this all month, but just have not had the time. Fortunately my friend Casey Holleran took the time to write it and covered everything that I would have plus a few items I had have forgotten.

Panama enjoyed remarkable growth in both tourism and foreign real estate investment in 2007 . This boom established that Panama, previously known only for its Canal, could be a viable threat to Costa Rica’s position as market leader in those sectors. 2007 saw many of ups and downs for Panama, but mostly ups (real estate prices, pollution in the Bay of Panama, costs of living, Noriega’s middle finger). Here is a recap of what I believe to be the most significant stories ‘07:

THE BEST

1. Canal Expansion & Free Trade Agreement Approved
Most folks would agree, whether they loved or hated it, that the Canal Expansion approval was the biggest event in Panama news in 2007. Panama made international headlines worldwide before, during, and after the approval process. Along with the approval came promises of new jobs, political favors of unprecedented sums and the beginning of a new era of international trade in Panama. The second biggest political vote was probably the Free Trade Agreement. Both these events secured Panama’s place at the table of world trade for decades to come.

2. Real Estate Boom
Panama benefited from a “perfect storm” of economic, political and intangible factors that led to a mind blowing real estate boom in 2007. Thanks in part to a lot of hype, the Canal Expansion and free trade agreements, an overpriced neighbor (Costa Rica) a fizzling U.S. housing market and wealthy Venezuelan exiles, Panama’s real estate prices went from geek to chic in 24 months.

3. Noriega Extradited
Among the many potential party poopers of Panama’s economic boom, none loomed so large as the threat of Noriega’s return. One could almost hear the collective sigh of relief among the investment community when Noriega’s triumphant return was thwarted thanks to a U.S. ruling that sentenced him to a lifetime of stale baguettes in France.

4. Costa Rica: Expensive & Less Safe
Many media references in 2007 reported (true or otherwise) the increasing costs of real estate in Costa Rica, along with the increase in crime in 2007. This was just one of the many factors that have assisted in permitting Panama to sneak onto the short list of offshore investment and retirement destinations in Latin America.

5. Panama’s (almost) Famous
First Brad Pitt and Angelina dropped in for a visit, then Mel Gibson. This was followed by rumors of other one-name superstars like Arnold, Mel and Mick scouting for beach property. The topper was an end-of-year announcement that the new installment of 007 was to be filmed suddenly gave Panama star power. I’ll keep my eyes peeled for Don Cheadle in ‘08.
